Our Vision
30% Protection by 2030
Imagine being in a world where there was so much knowledge around our Ocean. At present, we know more about the heavens above our heads than the Ocean on our own planet.
Two out of every three breaths we take comes from The Ocean. I started this company with some of the smartest people I know because to be honest, the global community isn’t doing the best job.
This project was started at The World Economic Forum in Davos 2018. The concept was to find a way to unite the data that was already available by a number of providers. If we could aggregate this information then we could apply machine learning algorithms that maybe one day could predict potential threats before they became catastrophes.
It was in this same breath that we found there was a significant issue with the types of data collection we had access to. In order to really understand what was happening in a marine protected area we decided to go back to traditional knowledge. Learning the concept of the TAMBU, which means TABOO or Forbidden. The ancient cultures knew that they not only needed to allow space for nature to grow but that humans need not take endlessly with no regard to the future.
We set forth a program to automate scientific studies but also build platforms that can autonomously stop illegal and unregulated fishing without human intervention. This was taking the traditional knowledge and putting a modern spin on the protection of The Ocean.
Our mission is to create the tools needed to facilitate a 30% protection of The Ocean by 2030.
